Devilish delight: Gentlemen of the Garden heed charitable tradition
Invitees to the Gentlemen of the Garden are a loyal bunch. Wherever the party goes, they follow.
So follow they did, to West Palm Beach’s jumpin’ downtown, for the teenth annual Devil’s Night party at Lynora’s Osteria.
“Teenth” because chairman and founding member Bob Eigelberger couldn’t recall exactly how many times GOG has staged the wild party. Understandable, though. When you’re a GOG, every day is a party. Who can keep track?
The Ghostly Ghoulish GOG Gig took place Oct. 30 and brought more than 150 revelers for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, some fabulous costumes — including the devilish Eigelberger dressed as Old Nick himself — dinner and dancing.
Proceeds from the event benefit the charitable endeavors of the The Gentlemen of the Garden, a 501C(3).
The late Jim Butler founded the group more than 25 years ago to raise money to help restore the grounds of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. Since then, it has donated more than $1 million to environmental, horticultural and beautification projects.
In addition to the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, other beneficiaries include Mounts Botanical Garden, the Community Foundation Green Fund and the YMCA of the Palm Beaches
